Believe me when I say this was a very difficult decision...
It is not easy to start a new event with so much going on in the dance world, and it is impossible not to conflict with others.
Circumstances have led me to make the final decision today to move Catalina to 2010.
Since the addition of the FRANKIE 95 event, I have felt conflicted about starting Catalina again this year.
I feel that EVERYONE should support this once in a lifetime celebration for the person who mentored us all.
I do not wish to cause a conflict for anyone on the fence between going to New York or coming to Catalina.
I will be in New York supporting Frankie and look forward to seeing you all there: www.Frankie95.com
There are also two established events just before and after the originally planned Catalina weekend:
Camp Jitterbug (10th annual) on May 28-31 - www.campjitterbug.com
and
All Balboa Weekend (9th annual) on June 11-14 - www.allbalboa.com
What a fantastic time for dancers.
I'm a big believer in abundance and that all events can be successful.
However, the saturation of such large events in 4 straight weeks is too much for any dancer or event planner to handle financially.
I know many dancers were very excited to return to Catalina this year and I apologize for the change of plans.
I assure you it will be an event worth waiting for - an event like no other in the world.
IN 2010 WE RETURN TO CATALINA to dance in the most beautiful ballroom in the world!!!!
Stay tuned for future details at www.2PlySwing.com
Sincerely,
Joel Plys
