Thumbs up video policy

For those who purchased a Thumbs up video at Seattle only to discover that ONLY the finals of Novice were video-ed. It seems that it's now their policy to NOT video the novice prelims/semis, which is unfortunate as it's pretty important to improvement for us novice dancers to see such video footage. You may want to drop a line to Doug Silton if you don't agree with the new policy~ Some of us don't have equipment or someone to do our videotaping.

FYI: Bridgetown...they won't be videoing the prelims in Novice... Drop him a line if you don't like it.

  2. What Doug Silton has done for the prelims and semis is allow people to bring in their own video cameras for those rounds. Which works more in your favor, just get a buddy to record you specifically.

The event video needs to cover everyone, so you don't get as great of a video shot of you anyway.

There's still a lot of reasons why it should be included:

Outside of Bridgetown, it doesn't work very well if you go to an event where you don't know anyone, does it? (Hey stranger...will you take this $500 video camera and record me?) Nor are we up high on a plinth like his camera, nor does everyone even have a video camera...which you have to run back to your room or some place secure if you worry about it "growing legs and walking away".

He's recorded novice prelims in most previous events...I find it hard to understand why suddenly it's not included. One usually get's good video footage of oneself, even in a crowd, of at least one preliminary dance...and to not record semis? naw...it won't wash.
